Xbox One HDD to small for you? TX member Juvenal has come to the rescue.

Being the first mod for the Xbox one this is a pretty nice one

Juvenal has succeeded in upgrading the Xbox Harddrive from a 500GB to a 1TB

Xbox-Scene

While many people were enjoying family, football, and turkey Team Xecuter member Juvenal was at work figuring out how to upgrade the harddrive in the Xbox One and his efforts have paid off.

Here is the info from Team Xecuter:

Full credits to Juvenal for this little beauty - you rock bro :)

As always no guarantees are given and use at your own risk !

Xbox One HDD Tools

What this does

Given any HDD over 500GB in size, you can format it for use with you Microsoft Xbox One console

How

Instructions

All of this must be done as root! I HIGHLY suggest you do this on a livecd or usb booted system if you don't 'know linux' and would rather not wipe the wrong hard drive.

  • Connect your HDD and take note of what its called (ex: sda, sdb etc)
  • Run the script with the device name as the first parameter
  • It will bitch about missing partitions etc, but write a file with commands to create said missing partitions
  • Run the created script
  • Copy the correct files to the newly created partitions
  • Unmount the newly created partitions
  • Run the main script again

Putting it back together

When you put the new HDD in your console for the first time and boot up, the console will go the the green "Xbox One" screen, pause for a second or two, then shut down. Boot the console again. This time it should pause at the green screen for a while longer, then go to a black screen for even longer. It can take several minutes before anything happens after this, the xbox is automatically creating temporary files during this time. If you copied everything correctly, it WILL go to the dashboard eventually, just be patient!

What is linux?

Wait for a windows version ;)

Required Files

These can be gotten off your original HDD easily

Team Xecuter has also stated that they are working on a Windows app for those that don't know how to use Linux.

Maybe this is a good sign for some great things to come for the Xbox One.

TX already looking deeply at Xbox One BD-ROM drive

Xbox-Scene News

TX already looking deeply at Xbox One BD-ROM drive

Team Xecuter has began working on the Xbox One

It only been less then 24 hours since the Xbox One has launched and already groups like Team-Xecuter are already working on ripping it apart so you can enjoy those nice underground goodies!

Xbox-Scene

From the label we can see it is clearly still a Lite-On drive, this time around of course it is BD-ROM and model number DG-6M1S and currently at firmware v3253 on h/w 070D and made in Oct. 2013.

But from the next picture we can clearly see that main IC is no longer a mediatek silicon, but a Microsoft stamped die with its own part number, along with a TI driver chip for laser with nice big cable:

Xbox-Scene

But all is not lost, as we got this good news and another picture to share from TX:

The X-Ray machine has been deployed. Now to put the acid gloves on.

Maybe something truly exciting will come from this, but I guess we will have to wait and see.

TX is giving a sneak peek into their final big 360 device

Xbox-Scene News

TX is giving a sneak peek into their final big 360 device

TX is working on their final secret product for the Xbox 360 consoles

Recently, TX released photos of what is to be their finale big product for the Xbox 360 modding scene.

Xbox-Scene

Clearly this model is for newer Xbox 360 Slim consoles, two versions one with internal HDD bay and one without:

And this model is for older Xbox 360 Phat generation, again two versions one with internal HDD bay and one without:

With no other information released by TX, has turned this into a wild speculation thread on their site, with pages of guesses rolling along.

Some were good ideas and some were just funny. The best opinion I have seen is from a user on the TX forums named iLLNESS who said:

Here's my take:
  • obviously an ODE
  • usb port for optional external hard drive OR external dvd drive paired with x360usb to play retails
  • internal housing for 2.5mm (lets hope not 9.5mm limit) hard drive
  • looks like a switch on the right to toggle between internal hdd or external usb hdd/retail drive
  • switch closest to usb port to unlock the 'bezel' to remove/insert hard drive

All though he did miss the SATA connector next to the USB port but its a still a good guess as to what this really could be coming from TX.

The other big question is now that Xbox One is launching next week, will the world famous Xbox modding scene team move onto the next-gen. :)

We still in for long wait before we might be able to play these kind of backups on our Xbox One consoles, but it's definitely a good start to see c4eva has already dumped a game a week before the XB1 even is available for sale in stores.
